I think I might be channeling Andy Rooney these days, in that I have a bunch of modern cultural questions.
First off, Mr. Dylan made one of the first music videos some 40 plus years ago and now it seems every viral video the Today show yaps about has the same format. What's with that? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMIlP4zB0EM)
Secondly, is it just because I'm calling or do most people not answer their phone these days? And when these people call back, they haven't checked the message you left, so you have to start all over about what you called about.
And last for now. Why are grown women wearing black nail polish?

In reference to your first question TJ, I think the Dude's INFLUENCE will carry on for a long, long time to come.

I agree. His writing and performing have influenced many generations now. Rampside, I see you are from his home town. Do they acknowledge him in any special way there?

Question 2: Caller ID. They know you called, so they see no reason to listen to the message. IF they bother to call back, no sweat off of them to make you go thru the whole thing again.

Question 3: Because many of them can't bend over enough to reach their toes.

You know, it was something I have struggled to understand how, for the most part, the town went on for so many years without acknowledging (or realizing) the "National Treasure" he is. Fortunately there was a movement started a while back to change that. There is a restaurant/bar that is solely a tribute Bob Dylan and they hold an annual festival week around his birthday. There is a display at the library and they have actually named the street he lived on after him.

Question 1. Is the Today show the fool for not acknowledging the achievements of the past? Or are you the fool for watching the Today show? The Today show has significantly deteriorated into a steaming pile of tripe...but there is a simple explanation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icmRCixQrx8).

Question 2. It is easier to just call you back to find out what you want. Especially if you have a tendency to leave really long messages.

Question 3. Fashion and trends. Why the hell did people think bellbottoms were a great idea all those decades ago?
