Welcome to the gang. Definately do not try and refin the guitar. Little to no good will come of it and a whole lot of bad is likely.

Nina, welcome aboard. I was going to add that "everybody wants (to see photos of) my Guild" but you've provided said photos and they are tremendous. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks ya'll. Yes it took a little to get those up, but I did it! So if it has that pick rash from Richie Havens wanabes, that's cool. Richie Havens doing "License to Kill," could be my favorite (notice the double pick guard). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JltNLkh03ME

Have a day and keep on picking.

After letting a few friends who are Gibson 335 lovers and Guild naysayers play my Starfire IV, I can relate. Now they all feel embarrassed by how the SFIV by how badly it put their beloved to 335's shame. Same with the Blues 90, a buddy of mine has an LP with P90's and I let him play my Blues 90, put his to shame.

let's face it, Guild is the better guitar, if anything they are guilty of overbuilding their guitars. I dont care about "name recognition" or any of that, when you plug it in it sounds better than the others. period.

Beautiful guitar there Nina. I've got a similar prototype, but in maple.

NEONMOONY now I have seen scratches. That is one well played guitar. What is funny is now they make guitars look like someone has played them for years...without all the work. Ha ha Stone Washed Guitars.

West R Lee I'd love to see the Maple. Would mine be a prototype because of the finish? No matter it was the best of the day I'm sure.

Off to play another day.

OK you guys!

I'm down with the wimpy scratches I have.
@krysh now I see what Billy hauls around and I feel all better.
@ Jon I'll have a lot more playing to do to earn that Texas patina.

Thanks again for all the comments, I'll keep it stock finish.

I'd better get on out of here and play something!

welcome nina

when my d50 got it's first small ding (i dropped a harmonica holder and it put a 1/16 circlular nick on the top)...i threw up in my mouth. but after 8 months of intense therapy i'm doing better and can walk into the room where the guitar is almost any day without breaking down and ending up in a fetal position. i'm over it...really i am

Yep. I put the first real ding in my D25 during the period while I was looking for a better soundhole pickup than the Dean Markley I had. Wound up buying the F65ce 'cause it already had a pickup and it was gorgeous and on sale and it was NEW! Learning how to get comfortable with my first shallow body guitar was the least of my worries...
And now you know why I don't go to guitar stores just to look around anymore.

Nina, welcome to LTG, kick your shoes off, relax your mind. Great guitar you've got don't mess with it, just keep on playin'. Where are you in the Denver area? My son lives out there, my folks used to live in Buena Vista, and I've got friends in Ft. Collins. Lots of nice music venues out your way. joan
