Nice review by GP. I’m certainly a fan. I’d love to see a US made series again.

The F30R had a rosewood back instead of the more common mahogany.

Was pretty sure Yamaha built this guitar for Guild, workmanship is superb

Any chance you posted this in the wrong thread?

If you did not post in the wrong thread and thus are suggesting that Yamaha made F30's for Guild in the late 1990's I'm going to say you are full of misinformation as politely as I can and ask you to explain why you believe that.

Even then, while Fender owned the company, the Westerly factory only made Guild branded instruments.

I'm hoping the post was operator error and not a statement of alleged fact.

ok i'll play. Fender made *all Guild guitars in 1998. yes in a Guild factory (which was owned by Fender)

Guild should bring back the F-30!

Although I will say the current F-40 traditional sounds pretty tempting.

Though this points out the very Guild-ness of both guitars.

The current F40 Traditional, which isn't the "traditional" F40 vs the F30 which exists in multiple incarnations: short scale 000, long-scale 000/OM, more or less mini-jumbo.

they need to bring back that short scale F-30 mahogany from the 60's and 90's. no rosewood (just the fretboard and bridge), no bling. Made in USA. polyfoam case. keep the price somewhat reasonable, but with real mahogany.

Also most if not all of the older F-40s I've seen for sale on reverb and such have been maple. But I'm just saying the larger body, current mahogany version does sound absolutely fantastic, and as I have a maple F-50 would be a good different sound.

GG has a great NGD write up on that model, it does sound like a winner, I am tempted myself :)
Check out the demo Trevor Menear did for Guild. It sounds like it just might be the ultimate hog guitar, well balanced etc
