Nice surprise from a previous owner. The replaced bone pins are all numbered for easy refitting to the correct hole.

Not so nice surprise to find the e and b strings were knotted on the tuner.

I don't understand why people knot their strings. It's unnecessary. All it does is make it harder to change them.

One of mine I’ve had for awhile (I’m sure there’s a NGD day from the time.) Just hadn’t replaced strings on it before. The b string nut slot is too deep and buzzes. It’s the original plastic one from Guild. Surprised it didn’t get changed to bone when they upgraded to bone bridge pins.
It’ll be bone now.

Any Westerly Guild factory workers know about this? Looks like there was a strip of double sided(?) tape on the fingerboard side of the nut.

Nice burst on that guitar....it's my favorite type and Guild has always been the best with the dark type.(imho) The cat thing always interested me too! In the early 90s when I had 2 cats I'd find the female, Samantha, curled up against any guitar that I left out on the bed or couch. I thought it was just her.......guess not.

Had to revise my date for this. Took advantage of the strings off to have a look round inside. Date stamp shows '98 not '99.

What is real anymore? Can I trust anyone? Am I in the matrix?

(Easier to slip the nut past just 2 strings while I'm dialing in nut/nut slot height. I'll fine tune the slot heights with all 6 strings.)

Good for beginners. Once they get used to 2 strings, you add 2 more. Rinse and repeat.
