OH WAIT!! I remember why I'm here.... I'd love a maple F40 (I don't get the nomenclature because what's the diff between F40 or F30?? I don't understand ANY if it!!) so if they came out with one, kinda like Al says, with a medium or even deep guitar, with a short scale and also a Venitian cutaway!! I love those! Guild did it so good!! (...)
F-40s are larger than F-30s...Remember the width at lower bout is 15"1/4 on F-30s and 16" on the original F-40s... (Al complains they are now 17" - like F-50s if I got it right)...
For smaller sizes look for F-20s (there was a real nice one for sale here not long ago, maybe still available)...I think they are not currently built by Guild right now like the F-30s as well...

Hey richard, can you tab over your guitar list so it's not so long? Just wondering.... other's have. I mean I'm so impressed and not being a DICK or anything but.... it's a long scroll...... maybe it's envy and maybe it's something else....

Guild did it so good!! And the Forentines are nice too, but .... you know for someone who plays up higher on the neck how do I get all these guitars that are NOT cutaway, and..... oh jeeze. Guild, F40 (if that means smaller body style like concert or orchestra, or sympatico or what the fu..) with either Sitka, or even better Adirondak top, and maple sides and back and .... arched or flat.... with some super nice appointments, n'kay? And a short scale would be good. Wait, has anyone ever done a 12 fretter (short scale, of course), with a cutaway?? Okay I'm going to sleep now.... and dream of Star Trek which can replicate the guitar of my dreams.....

But of course, replicated stuff is never as good as the real thing.

Right?

:applouse:

Taken care of Tom. No worries.

No, no, no... I WANT to see Richard’s and everyone’s list of Guilds. I’m still learning. If I do a search for something I’m interested in it’s very helpful to be able find members who have one that I can reach out to for guidance. So, yeah, please list them Guilds!

Pretty outstanding fretboard markers !
I'm quite sure the engraving was added after leaving the factory.
And interesting to observe the origin of what is now called the Chesterfield logo if I get it right (?)
Yes an early version of the Chesterfield but think it was already in use on electrics, I'm pretty "weak" on those.
What I don't recall is that "script" logo on an F40 of any vintage, I'd have to check Hans' book, but google image search fails to show any other F40's from '54-'62 showing that a particular combo..
Actually beginning to think that's not the original headstock faceplate but a replacement... from an electric?
Hans? Any ideas?

But the guitar seems to be sold already (was Al the one to get it ?). :smile-new:
Nope.

I don't do projects, but thanks for thinking of me!

Correct in every point, you're catching on!
Although "technically", Oxnard doesn't offer an F30 currently, the "OM" series in the Westerly Collection of MIC Guilds fills the F30 "slot" with its 15-1/2" lower bout width.
In multiple configurations, in fact.
😄
BTW for Tom F40's were arched maple back by definition, then were replaced for a while by F47 (same outline) but with flat 'hog back.
And the Forentines are nice too, but .... you know for someone who plays up higher on the neck how do I get all these guitars that are NOT cutaway, and..... oh jeeze. Right?
You can get any combo possible with the F40 family, except:
Beware of the universal 1-5/8 nut on all the cutaways.
Just sayin'.
(And no 12-fret cutaway, although there was a 12-fret GAD version of the F40)
😄
