Maybe this belongs in the miscellaneous section, but I am tired of clicking on "Guild sighting" topics only to see the same youtube clip for the umpteenth time, so here goes - what is your favorite album (CD/MP3 etc) where the featured acoustic guitar was manufactured by Guild?

My vote goes to John Denver's Rocky Mountain High.

Hmm... I'm not sure I can pick a specific album, but for artists I'd probably go with Richie Havens or Supertramp (Roger Hodgson).

John Denver is definitely a good choice, CK

If Nick Drake really did record with his M-20, I'd go for Pink Moon. The only thing besides guitar and voice on that record is about 15 seconds of piano.

I'd have to go with Bonnie Raitt i think... though Van Ronk would be a close second. The "Love Me Like a Man" clip has become a bit standard, but it's still a pretty awesome piece of Guild-playing.

The original poster got it right - my favorite is Rocky Mountain High. Man, I love that album. And the song Rocky Mountain High has my favorite acoustic guitar riff ever. That riff apparently came from Mike Taylor, Denver's guitar player at the time. Of course, John Denver's Guilds have been well documented. Based on period live footage (1972-1973) I've seen on YouTube, Mike Taylor was also playing a Guild dreadnought of some kind - hard to say exactly which model because I never saw the back. Definitely had a Chesterfield inlay. It could have been a D-40 or D-50, something like that. It's too bad that Mike Taylor wasn't around after about 1973 or so - Denver definitely made some of his best music with him.

Any of the John Denver records, live recordings, TV appearances, etc up to about 1976 or so have heavy Guild content. I think Denver did as much to popularize Guilds as anybody else at that time.

I'd have to say any of the albums Dave Van Ronk recorded with a Guild would be at the top of my list. I also wonder why nobody's mentioned Paul Simon, I'm pretty sure some of the Simon and Garfunkel LPs had him on Guild, not positive though.

Eva Cassidy deserver honorary mention here. Steffan

I didn't realize Eva played a Guild...thanks for the mention, I've been listening to her music for the first time in about 6 months, what a singer she was.

Isn't it strange, of all the people listed as favorite Guild acoustic players the only one I haven't heard is Nick Drake (and I understand his Guild connection is constantly being debated) and I really like all the others...they all get my vote! and yes, Paul Simon did play a Guilds both 6 and 12. John Denver brought a whole new dimension to 12 string playing with his Guild...
