I was there for a game in 1993. The atmosphere upon entering the ballpark just swallows you up, in a good way. The problem is, it was built in 1912, and people have gotten much bigger since then. Still, cool as all get out, just like Wrigley.

I wonder if Valentine will make it through the whole season.

His press conferences are painful to watch. He looks like he's counting the letters in every word before he says anything. Deer in the headlights.

I went to a game at Fenway in May of '91 when my sister lived in Greenfield, MA. The atmosphere surrounding the park is all about baseball in America.

This was our view of the Green Monster.

To call Fenway a classic is a major understatement!

I got to Tiger Stadium the last year Detroit played there. They had stopped taking care of it and the facades were blowing off in the wind. Haven't been to Wrigley. My favorite (new) parks are Camden Yards and Arlington. Going to Miami in June to check out the Marlins' new digs. Seattle ain't too shabby and y'all got some pretty neat golf courses. Played Freddie Couples home course when I was there. Some beautiful views of Mt hood. :)

Mt. Hood....from Seattle? That might be a stretch. :?

Just sayin',
Joe

I remember climbing to the top of a crest for one of the tees and the folks I was with pointed out a snow crested peak and said it was Mt Snow. Is there another mountain visible from There? If I had a dollar for every time I've been wrong I'de be a wealthy man. Can't remember the name of the course. Google here I come.

Yeah, Mt. Rainier pretty much dominates the skyline south-southeast of Seattle.

Being so close to sea level at over 14,000', it's equivalent to a 20,000' peak in Colorado. It's a monster! :D

Had a great time in Seattle. Our baseball trips are usually 3-4 days. But Seattle was such a long trip we spent a whole week. Did the fish market and went sailing in the bay. All the usual touristy stuff. Was impressed by the street musicians' system of passing on their locations by time allotments. A whole week of sunny warm weather and not a drop of rain. The golf course was Jefferson Park where Couples played as a youngster.

The Ballpark at Arlington is truly a beautiful facility. We've been to a many a game there over the years, but the past couple of years, we were lucky enough to catch both an ALDS game (Tampa Bay) last year, and an ALCS game (Yankees) the year before last. The Rangers ain't lookin' too bad this year either.

I think I recall when they built that park they took little bits of the best from the old ball yards. I think that right field overhang is reminiscent of Tiger Stadium. I believe we were there in the month of August and it was wickid hot. Finished 18 holes around 1:00PM and it was 111 degrees. Seem to recall some really good restaurants and clubs in walking distance. And a good time was had by all. :)

Yes sir, you have a good memory. And I remember so well that they had a contest to see which fan could name the new ballpark. Then finally the day came to unveil the new name.....   "The Ballpark at Arlington"?   I was expecting some really cool, exotic sounding name. I couldn't believe the imagination it took to come up with such a unique name.....how origional! Hey, what the heck, he won (some money as I recall), and the Ballpark will forever be called by the name he chose. :)

And Greihund, I once went to a 3:00 pm Sunday game in August and had seats straight down the 3rd base line. If you've ever been there, you know where I'm talking about. It was about 105 outside the stadium and I was facing dead into the sun on a day with about 110% humidity, and no wind down near the field. I went to the corridor and ended up in an air conditioned restaurant.......I don't mind a hot day, but this was unbearable. I also noticed you play some golf.....so did I prior to my neck surgery 5 weeks ago. I hope to get back into it soon.

I guess the creative part of the name is that they didn't call it a "stadium" like all the pie shaped cookie cutter fields they built and then tore down. It's kind of cool in a traditionalist sort of way.

My wife and younger son were at the celebration last Thurs. They enjoyed it!

My sis in law was there and texted some pics but they too small to use for anything. So much history.....both good and bad. Trying to stay optimistic.
