I had totally forgot about it and stopped checking a couple years ago. Now to decide what configuration I want. Toggle? Four jack? High gain? Red side, yellow side? Red pill, blue pill…? King Of Confusion.

It took them over five years to build a pedal for you? I would have cancelled it by then. Any company that takes that long to fill orders is not worth dealing with.

It better be the best pedal in the world for that long of a wait.

They haven’t built him the pedal yet, he’s just reached the top of the wait list.
Right, no money up front, no commitment. Though you'd be silly to pass it by. You can resell it for several times the value.

I believe I'm on the list, but it's been so long ago, I don't remember.

I've owned 2 of them... first one was when v4 first came out and you could still buy the older revision (I've own a few of Mike's pedals over the last 20 years... his Beano Boost and KoT are currently on my board.). I got into some financial trouble and sold off most of my pedals but then repurchased this one in the picture.

As soon as I bought my first, I put my name back on the list, did the same when I bought the current one. Once to the top, you are on the top... you don't have to buy right away. If you email them, they will check on your status.

The wait is ridiculous, but it is said to be because they are not mass produced, Mike and a couple staff build most of the product line. If you want quicker, get his foreign made single channel Prince of Tone OR the new MXR Duke of Tone.

These are Marshall "Bluesbreaker" pedal clones with Mike's typical improvements and enhancements. Definitely my favorite grit pedal after using TS9 & TS10 from the 80s on.

Both mine are standard config, I use to us the OD on yellow and Distortion on Red. With my Custom 68 Deluxe, I clicked them down to boost for Yellow and OD for the Red side... then put a mini Fuzzface FFM3 behind it.

[edit] no those aren't my settings! I think I snapped that shot when I was playing with the blender to the right... I use my board for bass and guitar, so I put the Beano, KoT and Fuzz in a blender to not lose all my low end

Here is a 16 year old middle of the night audio doodle with my first KoT and a Nano Small stone direct into my soundcard with some cut&paste drum loops. It was a night off while a grave yard NOC worker for Vonage... too much evening coffee after sleeping all day use to keep me up jamming into headphones while the wife slept just the other side of the wall behind me!

Obviously it sounds better on guitar and in front of a tube amp and with a better player

Yeah, there is no downside to buying it as people will pay stupid money for one to not wait on the list.

That’s cool James! What kind of guitar/bass are you playing there?

I’m thinking I will do the high gain on the red side with OD, and use the yellow for clean/boost. Debating the need for a toggle and 4-jack. Since I will probably be dead before my name ever comes up again, I may at least do the 4-jack to split the sides. Though it might also be fun to run both sides clean on a flip of the switch.

That is my main instrument, a 7 string bass built by Fred Bolton of Bee Basses to my specs. Here is a 'build blog' of sorts on my WAY outdated website http://myselfalone.com/bee.htm

That is insane!!! A work of art.

Thanks! I still love it! Unfortunately Fred fell ill then either burned out or just faded away... He has pending orders close to KoT wait times that he took money on and has gone dark online a while.

He has a killer Bubinga top and fingerboard of mine that he was going to build into another bass for me

This is his Niece playing one of his basses (and nephews performing too)

I just kept mine set the way it came in the box.

Used it for a couple of years.

Sold it for $100 more than I paid.

Nice work if you can get it!
