indeed, got a Franz pickup (without the cover, so have to sort that problem out as well, all ideas welcome) off the net and I wanted to put it in the bridge position of my Gretsch Clipper, but then I figured out that it's probably a neck PU (comes from a T100)...

So the question: would it be a good idea to put a neck PU in bridge position? (I know, I probably shouldn't put it in a gretsch, but I'm working on that one...). To test it, I will first put it in neck (and just screw out the HiLotron). Why not leave it there... I prefer the 'bridge over trebled waters' ;-) so i want the Franz sound there...

Cheers!

The only problem you might run into is that the cover isn't tall enough for a bridge position mount - you might have to fabricate a spacer to raise the cover. (you can raise the pickup itself by carefully bending the baseplate).

otherwise, if it's late 50's or early 60's, it's exactly the same pickup as a neck pickup.

Oh, and that Hilotron is going to sound really thin and wimpy next to a Franz!

Hey Walter

Thanks!

It's a '54 or so I think (it is written on it with pencil), I'm not sure though, check it soon.

I will first see what it does on the Gretsch and when it doesn't work, I'll get another Guild :)

The HiLotrons on the '67 Double Anniversary work great, but then again, it's the bridge I use most...

Cheers!
