I don't know how well Blackie and the Rodeo Kings are known outside of Canada. To be honest they are not even very mainstream here. They like to work with female singers and there is their Kings and Queens series recorded with Country singers such as Emmy Lou Harris. They also seem to have trouble capturing the energy and excitement of their live performances on studio recordings - probably over-thinking it and being too careful rather than just putting the boots to it.
Anyway, here is an introduction to them and Colin Linden, their lead guitarist, whom I like very much

Linden is a busy guy. He pops up all over the place. Look at the fine print on album notes. I have seen him in a variety of settings, including holding down the lead guitar chair in Emmy Lou Harris's touring band. He always manages to convey a child-like sense of wonder and disbelief that people are actually paying him for having so much fun..
