I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I would like to extend my simpathy, but since I have never experienced such a loss I can't know your pain, I can only imagine.

I will just say a prayer for your healing. Be strong.

Curt,

Please accept our sincere sympathy for the loss of your precious child.

I don't believe I've seen a more powerful testament for the love of a child that the scenes included Caryn's slide show. Thank you for sharing it.

The rest of my day will be spent with a much more clear appreciation of my blessings.

Curt,

I don't know what to say other than to tell you that I sit here with tears in my eyes. Like P, I've lost others, but never a child. Caryn was a beautiful young lady with what looks like the whole world going for her. Sometimes it's impossible for us to understand, but there is a reason that God took her. Far be it from us to speculate why.

You and your family are in the prayers of me and mine. Just remember that there is a way to spend eternity with your daughter. God bless you!

Curt: I watched the video, too. I can scarcely see to write through my tears. We have four daughters and a son. Please know that I am praying for you and your family.

Curt,

Reading about your tragedy stopped me in my tracks. I've been thinking about it everyday, and haven't been able to come back to the forum until now. I don't have anything sufficient to tell you because I don't have anything sufficient to tell myself.

But I will say that several of my relatives and I have had many visits from the other side. When I was a kid, the minister at my grandmother's funeral said that when we die we are like a vine that grows through a crevice in a wall to a place where those left behind can't see us. Many years later, I dreamed that I walked down some concrete steps to a vine covered wall. When I awoke, I found out that my aunt had died (quite unexpectedly) during the night when I had my dream. Then last fall after another loss, a vine in my neighbor's yard grew through the block wall fence into my yard.

I think it might also help to ritualize, so I have shrines at home where I pray every time I leave the house.

I used to think that the earthly life is real life, and the afterlife is some kind of consolation. But now I think of this life as some unreal departure from the real norm: the spirit world. So I've salvaged something from the suffering of others. And I'm trying to accept, so I started wearing a wooden cross because it seems to me that wood is more of an affirmation of the incarnation of spirit in nature's cycle of life and death.

Still, even though I can manage toothache, backache, and headache, heartache is too pure.
