I have and love the Guild American guitars. For the past year I've been looking for a lower end MIC guild to store at another location. Didn't want to break the bank. I tied several and thought their looks, build were excellent for the money. However their tone seemed dead. I liked the Memoir DS240 but couldn't find one to try. So I began looking for guitars that my dealer carried. They are a family company and had an impressive stock of Martins, Gibson's , Yamahas, Eastman and Guild on and on. They were pretty into Eastman so I tried a couple low end models out. Wow, talk about tone!. Solid wood, sapele sides and back, sitka spruce, eboney fret board and bridge. Bone nut and saddle. The E1D Sounds very close to a D16 martin. Took it home and search is over.
