I have and love the Guild American guitars. For the past year I've been looking for a lower end MIC guild to store at another location. Didn't want to break the bank. I tied several and thought their looks, build were excellent for the money. However their tone seemed dead. I liked the Memoir DS240 but couldn't find one to try. So I began looking for guitars that my dealer carried. They are a family company and had an impressive stock of Martins, Gibson's , Yamahas, Eastman and Guild on and on. They were pretty into Eastman so I tried a couple low end models out. Wow, talk about tone!. Solid wood, sapele sides and back, sitka spruce, eboney fret board and bridge. Bone nut and saddle. The E1D Sounds very close to a D16 martin. Took it home and search is over.

Eastman makes some great guitars. I don't own one now, but I used to own a E6OM that my bestie liked so much that he kept begging me to sell it to him. So I did.

As for the Asian rim Guild acoustic guitars? The OM240 is one of the few that I like. Most of the ones with the thick poly finishes sound dead to my ears, at least.

Hey Thanks. I'm a dread guy and the dealer did not stock any Satin Guilds at all. Guess they covered that market with their cheaper Martins. I must ad though, they had a beautiful D55 Locked up in glass. Now that's a guitar!

Probably a good move. I have the parlor version of the 'Memoir' line, and despite the YT sample I heard, my in-person experience has been that it's a sturdy, but stiff sounding guitar. Turned into a win, though, as I put a Grover nut extension on it, and threw a sound hole PU in. It's morphed into a stellar lap slide!

Congrats on the E1D! I used to have one. Nice guitar. I sold it for, funnily enough, a Martin D-16 (also gone now). I've also owned the Eastman E2OM and just sold an E10SS/v. I'm down to one Eastman now, the E1SS-LTD limited edition from 2019. It beat out the E10SS/v as far as which one to keep. It's a pretty special guitar. Can't really go wrong with Eastman.

Never played a MIC Guild I really liked. Just tried one yesterday. Also played a couple Eastmans. hop I was at, Rudys, Scarsdale is big on 'em. Sounded good for the price point. I found them a bit stiff and harder to play. Me. I'm looking for a smaller, easier guitar as I age and my dreads get harder for me to play for longer sessions.

Eastmans are fantastic, and probably the premier MIC acoustic out there. Guild GAD series back in the 2000s might compete better, but not the modern MIC guilds, they are not the same. Nice score!

I think the only place you would have to mic it is maybe Shea stadium or something. Guitar really has some boom. The dread is actually a tad smaller than most. I don't know where all that volume comes from. The thermo cured top and ever so light gloss coupled with the Sapele body which tends to be slightly brighter than mahogany must have something to do with it. I will stop gloating now, LOL
