Hi, I'm a new member and would like some views on the following..
I have recently purchased a Guild D20 and it was shipped with d'addario phosphor bronze light gauge strings.
The light gauge is too bright for my taste and I would like to use a phosphor bronze medium gauge string. I'm
not sure if the lighter gauge is because of the build or just a shipping preference. At any rate, the question is,
can this guitar handle medium gauge strings? And would there be any adjustments needed? Thank you

Welcome to LTG! Before switching gauges, you might try some other string alloys first, like monel. Monel strings tend to give mahogany guitars a woodier tone with a smooth high end. DR Sunbeams are phosphor bronze, but aren't overly bright.

Thanks all. The suggestions are noted. However, my curiosity remains wrapped around the question
about guild being built to accept the added tension of medium gauge strings?? We'll talk soon. And
now I'll look into monel. thanks again

Might want to make sure to have a set-up done, if going up a gauge (at least, that's what I would do).
