Greetings all,
I have been playing a guitar that was gifted to me for some time now, and just happened to realized it is in fact an older one. From my understanding it is pre 1970’s, but would love a fellow musicians help in dating/valuing this beautiful sounding guitar.

I graduated UGA as a clarinetist and have dabbled with guitars on and off, so I’m not too knowledgeable on brands, dates, etc. I am quite positive it is all original, just not in A+ shape. Not shown in picture, neck is stamped the same serial number: 199091

Thanks in advance!

Very nice guitar. I know it is approximately a 1977 model because there's a 1977 D35 at a music store I frequent. Whoever it was that made out the sticker inside the body of the guitar had the same handwriting. The N in the model number is very distinct. Saw it in the 1977 D35 just hours ago. So, that's what I can tell. Not much. Again, what a beautiful old guitar. I'd love to play it. Enjoy it.

I'll take a crack...I believe it's a 1978 F-20 with natural top (NT). It's an orchestra model size, with spruce top and mahogany back and sides. Much loved here. More knowledgeable folks will chime in.

Just bought a Guild from a second hand store in McKinney, Texas Where I currently live. Serial Number: GAD 33611
ten digit inside soundhole: 0712260467
Model number: FD20NA
I bought it to play not to sell. Just want info about this very nice instrument. It plays great. Sounds great. it’s in a hard shell tweed Original Guild case. Excellent condition. I only paid $320 U.S. dollars for it. I think I got a bargain. What does anyone think? Hope I posted in the correct spot. Sorry if I did not. I am a bit of a reluctant Luddite.

Welcome to LTG! That 10 digit number on the neck heel block gives you the built date: 0712 means 2007 and December. The serial number has no dating info in those models.
So it is an original GAD model and was built at GREE (Grand Reward Education & Entertainment) in Hui Yang/China.
I'm a little bit surprised about the model number "FD20NA", it should be a GAD-F20NA guitar. "NA"="Natural". Maybe because it was an early made one they used a different number on the label.

They are nice all solid wood guitars.

Does it look like this?

And by the way "GAD" stands for "Guild Acoustic Design", which was the series made in China:

Today a similar redesigned series is called "Westerly Collection", also made at GREE.
