GAD Guilds -v- Glad Guilds.......
When I said that the GAD Guild JF-30 was "OK," I do mean that for the money, it's "OK." The question is and always will be, For the small or great cost difference between a used Westerly Guild and a new GAD Guild, which one would you choose? If you have never compaired them side-by-side, it may be a hard choice for some. I can only say that I've done that and came away glad the Westerly was mine and suggested to my friend to start looking for a Westerly on E-Bay, etc. Could the GADs improve to be on par with the older Guilds? No question there. Just look at how close the Saga BR-160 comes to being a pre-war Martin D-28. Will they go to the last little extras to do that...like a three-piece matching color neck to go with the maple body......big question there! I can put up with less in the looks department, but not in the sound quality department.

On-Board Pick-Ups........
Check out Acoustic Guitar Magazine for ads and advise. Not to say what's been given here on this site isn't just as good, but the Mag. may have the latest info.

I re-read some of the comments I posted to date...especially the ones I wrote in the wee-small hours of the mornings. Tired with Arthritus in ones' hands and typing do not go well together. Just glad I can still play guitar.....maybe not as well as I used to, "but I'm as good once as I've ever been?" No! but I still have fun grinnin' and a pickin' ......and when my pickin' slips a little, I just grin wider!

Hello Darryl,

I have spend olny a few time in the shop. They have a lot of guitars there, but the most models have a fishman-piezo system on board. The most of the guitars there are in the low-/middle price segment like Cort or Ibanez and Yamaha. The "better" ones are from Takamine - which I own one myself - and these Pickups are very good.
Some poeple told me about the K&K Sound "UltraPure Western". There are three Pickups which are mounted under the Saddle. Look at http://www.kksound.com/acousticguitar.html for the UltraPure Systems...

May be, I wait a little bit with my decision. I play only at home and want to use the system for recording to hear myself for training. So when I want to record, I use my Takamine (NP-18C). In principle I don't need a pickup in my Guild - but I know myself... in future it "must be" one day...

So - have a nice "Easter-weekend"

Best regards - Dietmar

One good thing about being a bad player like me. I don't have to spend money on recording, because I don't want proof of just how hopeless I am.
