I've been dusting off and using my old Guild M20 in the band a bit more and was looking online to find a spare but no matter where I search I can't find one - or even that my version exists! Not sure if it was a limited edition?

Mine is electro and has a Fishman AGP-2 preamp/pickup with vol and combined bass/treble pots
It was made in Westerley, RI
Serial begins FA100
Under that is says M20-NT HR M

I've searched the Forum but can't find reference so apologies in advance if there's already a post.
Any insight welcome. Thank you!

That’s definitely one to ask @hansmoust about. From the serial number, it aligns with the F20s for 1986, almost. It’s actually beyond by a few numbers for that year, but there’s nothing in 1987, and no M20s listed for these years at all.
But until we hear something from Hans I think it might have been a special request from ‘86.

I had an ‘80s M20 for a while. Very dependent on string gauge but when I dialed it in it sounded fabulous. I don’t see them come up for sale very often.

Agree, since the only difference between 'em is the top, and that might explain why it's got an "M" for a 'hog top which is redundant for an M20-NT which is already calls out top color. F20 was about to go on hiatus itself, so just occurred to me maybe they did a "batch" of 'em with 'hog tops as a kind of "last hurrah" and called 'em M20's even though the model was out of production.

Looks like it may be a late '90s reissue to me. But that is just an uneducated guess.

I'm wholly with the late 90s reissue crowd. That's definitely from the late 90s

Finding one of these is second only to a late 90s Westerly made F30 sunburst on my white whale list.

those 90's F-30's and M-20's pop up every so often. They are not impossible to come by, but you have to move fast, and much of the time be willing to travel, or convince someone to ship.

Have seen more of the rosewood 90's F-30, than the mahogany. Most i've seen are sunburst, but not all.

Exactly. It's funny, I played a new sunburst F30 in the late 90s at a shop in Southington, Conn. I liked it a lot, but then got distracted by an F30r-ls at special pricing. And I grabbed it and loved it, but eventually sold it. I only realized maybe eight years ago that I love short-scale 000-ish guitars more than long scale. Now I think about that sunburst F30 a lot!
