No chesterfields on F20's of the era, remember? (ok, I did find a '68 with one)
But the bridge was lower down on the 'bout.
Let alone the teardrop pickguard (which the '68 had, too):

'62 (note "Lips" style headstock, too):

I'm now on a mission to try to ID the mysterious "natural" topped guitar in the middle pic in post #14.
The guitar I saw way back in the '90's in the book I mentioned was also a natural top.
Initial hypothesis is that, due to the rosette, it's the same guitar as the 2013 PVS video, and was converted to a sunburst.

so you think he got top redone? i wonder why that vs buying a sunburst Guild F30, unless they are just or were hard to find.

Yeah, according to Ronald Regan in post #13.
Since he apparently knew when at least one of 'em was bought, I was willing to believe he had info I haven't come across yet.
But pretty sure there's at least 2 F30's, now.
The sunburst seen in the pics looks like a genuine factory burst, and I'm thinking the natural was converted later.
And pretty sure that for Peter, it would have been was more about being able to do what he wanted to do with the bird in hand, without worrying too much about cost.
Also just realized that '67 would have been the beginning of the period when Hoboken was relocating to Westerly, so they actually might have been hard to find...

I am not surprised then I was born in '67 :)
Maybe Hans could add this when he does re-issue of the book. My birth might have precipitated the move. Hard to say...
