Guild Songbirds

I always wanted a Songbird. I remember I tried to buy one in 1988. But the salesman at Mandolin Brothers told me it had very little acoustic tone. I ended up getting an Ovation Elite that day. But I wanted the Songbird.

No. I don't think it's related to the F-65ce. The F-65ce has nice acoustic tone. It sounds lovely unplugged. The sound hole shape is different. The cutaway appears different.

I own one.

In fact, I prefer its sound unplugged to the sound of the Fishman Quack-O-Matic Blender plugged in.

I never did get a Songbird though.

I like the blue BG model.

I don't know. The sound was good enough for Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton. So I still wouldn't throw a Songbird out of bed - even with the Fishman.

But from what I understand, it's not really an acoustic guitar.
The F-65ce is actually an acoustic guitar.

The quack can be fixed with either a Fishman Aura, or with a DTAR Mama Bear. The Mama Bear is pretty remarkable in its ability to fix the quack from just about any UST, without the need for models required by the Aura (original model).

Reviving this old thread because it seemed a general discussion of this guitar. I just acquired one and I'm curious about the knob controls. The volume works, but the tone has 2 rings; the inside one works but the outside one doesn't seem to. Is there a schematic or does anyone know how these are wired and what I can do to test? Thanx, Dave
