And my black one came in a teardrop Guild case.

Guild guitar teardrop case?
I found a picture of a Guild marked case in teardrop form. Never seen such Guild case before. Does anybody know which Guild model shipped with such a teardrop case? Ralf

That was the post I remembered seeing. So when the S271 showed up I recalled the earlier inquiry.
Additionally I had an odd Guild guitar body in storage. Always wondered what model guitar it was. Now I know it is a S271! White color as the one above but the pickguard was cut up to install a middle humbuckers.

Any ideas as to what exat model this is ?
O.K. Guild fans I am stumped on this one here...Pot dates 82 and 1983... no id numbers other than serial number and made in USA...Kahler tremelo ( non locking) that's all I can tell ya maple capped maple neck, hottttt pups and killer player. That sticker on the neck is a authentication...

I like teardrop cases, a space saver?
Space saver and also not as heavy as the classic big brown rectangular Guild electric guitar cases of the era.
