Wow, I didn't realize the factory kept records of colours associated with serial numbers. Great information. Thanks Hans!

Sorry. Wasn't trying to make you uncomfortable or defensive. I'm often considered humorless and dry and matter of fact and sometimes people read that wrong. But we get new members who only want to sell and don't seem to want to follow the rules. We get new members who want a value and list the instrument here or elsewhere as soon as they get a value. Some of them even get indignant when the instrument does not sell at the price they decide after listening to us. Some people use "appraisal" when they need a number from a credible expert which also means they are getting it insured or it is part of an estate they are trying to value. So I was just trying to cover a lot of bases so that if you never returned you might have found what you were looking for.Not familiar with this site as I became a member only hours ago. Not trying to sell anything. Not trying to bend any rules either.
Not trying to be on the defensive. Only looking for some help from fellow Guild owners and fans of the instrument.
Have done a lot of research and suffice it to say, there is not a lot to find until GAD pointed me to this place. Thank you for that!

Since you have returned how about some pictures and some tips about how to play it and keep the points intact?
Hi Jay Peavey, My experience is to use the type of guitar stand the has the swivel-type fork that the body sits in to adjust to the bottom contour of the X-79. That type should also have the rubber strap to hold the neck in the stand. Other than keeping it on a stand like that, it is best to lay them on their back on a couch or keep them in the case. They were certainly not designed for leaning it up against anything.I would appreciate any tips you can share about playing and keeping the points intact, as these X-79's are my newest adds to my collection, and I don't know much about them except what I have read about and from GAD
