Is there even such a thing as commission at GC?

I always really disliked the bouncer at the door having to look at your goods and receipt, right after checking out, really?

Like Frono says above, I have never seen this GC bouncer you speak of.

There used to be, it's how the employees funded their gear purchases. Employees were always their strongest customer base.

I used to belong to their String Club. I don't recall the details but it was something to do with a pack of strings each month. I found my String Club card not long ago while cleaning out a drawer and wondered if they still had that.

it only lasted like a year
There's nothing like first person historical accounts.

Some of my favorite GC moments.

Clerks that can't find strings you're pointing to.

Strings you desperately need right at closing time - 7pm - that they told you they had over the phone but they don't have them, and the clerk who answered the phone and told you they had them just gives you a blank look and then walks off.

Cute high school diva changing strings on really expensive PRS's on the counter right next to the register while ringing people up, and then accidentally gauging the headstock with a pair of nippers while trimming the ends.

Naive but cute young hiree, offering to sell me a whole drawer full of whammy bars that probably went to guitars on the wall, for $20.

Clerks half your age with haughty attitudes because they play in a local band.

Watching clerks trying to pull guitars down from near the ceiling, so I could have a better look. Stand way back.

Clerks that play Enter Sandman badly while not helping you.

Clerks trying to bs their way out of a simple question.

Drum clerks who don't know much about drums.

Clerks who keep adjusting their hearing aids.

I haven't been in a GC in almost a year. I'm waiting for them to shut their doors.
