Sometimes it's okay to suspend Christmas or whatever holiday. It's okay. I just pulled the Christmas wreath out and put it on our front door. And plugged it in. NOTHING. But the porch light quit working too. So I just got home and thought, wait.... I have that sweet tulip glass lamp at the bar that I can plug in and then I'll know if it's the outlet outside!!! YAAAAYY!! So it didn't work. Then I brought the tulip light inside and plugged it into two outlets that I KNOW work.... and nothing. So now either the bulb is out in the tulip light or the power is out at the front door OR BOTH!!! I just had a shot of Whiskey and now I'm sitting here wondering why I care....

I know where you're coming from Tom. There are times for me, that a broken shoelace can upset the entire day and yet the big things like car failure or accident can be delt with more easily, at least emotionally. I faced both in the last 10 days. The car stuff not the shoelace. I think back decades ago how all I wanted for Christmas was for it to be over. These days I get myself caught up in the non-commercial meaning of the coming holiday. It helps me stay balanced.
I hope that your light bulbs went bad at the same time and you have replacements at arms length. For me, there's always tomorrow.

I totally get you Walt. And now I sit here wondering what the hell do I do tomorrow morning to fix this? New wreath? The bulb in the tulip lamp is super weird and....I think I'll just watch The Blacklist and they'll kill a couple of people in cold blood and then I'll get a good nights sleep. Then tomorrow, tackle my problems again? How does that sound??

It's easy. I put nothing out, and my neighbors think I'm Jewish. :ROFLMAO:
:ROFLMAO::LOL: I remember as a kid I'd see houses with all blue lights. Blue is my favorite color and I asked again and again to get all blue lights. My mom got so mad and I said, "Why can't we have blue lights?" And she screamed at me, "BECAUSE IT MEANS YOU'RE JEWISH!!"

Well since she was so awful and mean and because I didn't want any more trouble I just shut up. But although I didn't know what Jewish was, I wanted to be it more than anything. Just imagine.... all blue lights. If only life was that simple. But, it really kind of is.... you know? Love to all, let's celebrate being alive!!:love:

I'm currently watching season 2 of Reacher on Amazon........so I'm in the same place. Tomorrow! So many possibilities available, I'm sure the correct one will become evident.
I celebrate being alive at least a couple of times every day. It certainly beats the way I use to feel. I really like your montra Tom,

You should have been raised on Long Island, right @chazmo? My hometown was predominantly Jewish (as were all my folks' and many of my) friends, so it's kind of ingrained here. I was raised in a Unitarian church in Manhasset that horrified my Southern Baptist grandmother, and most of the congregation were folks that jumped ship from the synagogue. I still go, and that hasn't changed.

Back in the day we had a member here, went by the name Cap'n Juan. Or something like that. John Henderson. I was new and he'd been here forever and we kinda got off on the wrong foot and it all blew up and then all these amazing members told me his story. Fighting terminal cancer and on all these god-awful drugs and then I decided to take it private. I contacted him and we hashed out our issues and he was actually a super cool and nice guy. And then he was gone. The day after he died, I was somewhere online and saw that quote and it just resonated with me at that time. So that's the backstory. The longer I live, the less I know. (y)

The Cap'n was a very wise man. He is missed.

 Tom, is there an outdoor gfi outlet out there? (The one w/ the test/reset buttons on them) . Oftentimes (especially in newer homes.) several outdoor outlets (and even porchlights) are chained off the ground fault (surge) protection of a single gfi outlet. If it trips, several other outlets/lights/fans, etc may stop working.

LOL! Whiskey will certainly help you not care!

The quote is a worthwhile thought to ponder, but knowing John's death was a trigger gives it even more meaning.

Thank you.

I had a very similar experience. My first post even, and Frono even responded to my complaint. I seem to recall part of his reply being, "You'll never find anyone more experienced with tube amps." True.

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

The outlet is so low and with that flip down cover, I can't see the actual outlet especially in the dark. But I will now and there's also a GFI outlet in the garage that has one, and they may be connected. It's been a while since I monkeyed with it, so I'll find out now after I finish this coffee. Or tomorrow. Not in a huge rush. This place was built in 1985. Thanks for the tip, Dan!! And happy holidays, my friend!! (y)

So true. At that time the mods all jumped in and contacted me, and they were just NICE, you know? Like, "Sorry Tom, I know you're new and John's being ill tempered with you but...." and then explaining his horrible situation. And that was super helpful so I just went to messages and half-apologized, half-explained myself to see if we could fix it. What I got back was a super nice message and an apology and then we just started going back and forth. We went on like that until his last week of life, when he was just a mess. Then he was gone. I miss that guy.

Breath deep Tom. Hold it and let it go. Three times. This is definitely a stressful time of year. Don’t become this guy 😁
