I was contracted to take delivery of and install a 350 lb. piece of art on an exterior wall of a residence. It was an enjoyable yet stressful undertaking and I finished today in the morning sunshine.

Step One:
Install the 50 lb. mounting bracket to the exterior wall, fabricate parapet jacks to hang a pair of 1/2 ton chain hoists.

Step Two:
Lift the big boy into place on the mounting bracket.

Step Three:
Step back and check my work.

Owner bought it in Santa Fe and now it lives here in the Pacific Northwest.

Challenging and fun to do!

Thanks for stopping by,
Joe

When you have to use chains, it must be a heavy gig.
Nice work! Great technique. :)

I hear you!
I guess art is really in the wallet of the beholder.

Joe

BTW, I used to work with a guy named Art and, predictably, he said that all his kids were....drum roll...."works of Art."

Nice job! Whether it's "art" or not, it's certainly nicer than looking at the plain gray wall of the building...

Hey Joe what made it so heavy?
Was it canvas mounted on a heavy wood frame or was it on a slab of rock or a piece of precast concrete? :?

Those look a lot like the tools of my trade as well Joe. Lots of parapet clamps and chain hoists of various capacities/lengths in my arsenal.

The "canvas" is made of 1/8" stainless steel mounted on a steel internal frame. The canvas was painted and the ceramic design pieces were overlaid on the canvas.
We'll have to wait and see how well it handles the weather. 8)
