This came up for sale on Reverb. I've messaged for photos and with lots of questions. I'm awaiting a reply. What are your thoughts on this? What do you see that I am probably not seeing? Where is the Hoboken label? Did they build Mark IIs in 1979 or is that a typo? Is it a solid top?

Thanks in advance!

My 1978 Mark IV-R(Rosewood) is a Westerly. By the way, that's a strange way to attach treble strings to a bridge on a classical.

That is interesting, Uke. I didn't know that they made ball ends for nylon strings.
Not only the ball ends for the nylon strings, take a look at the other 3 and see how they are tied. I've never used the ball end strings. I don't recall ever seeing them for sale but they must be because I see them once in a while.

I would contact the LaCrosse store directly, and try to work out a deal. You might get a better price if they don't have to eat any Reverb fees. It looks to me like a fair price. The label looks to be missing, but that's not uncommon with Guilds.

Seeing those ball end strings took me back to my pre-teen years, which is maybe the last time I saw them -- in fact, I'd completely forgotten about them. As far as the bass strings, pretty sloppy tie job.

Ball end nylon strings are fairly common, but the purist in me doesn't like them. I try to reconcile that with my disdain for slotheads!

I agree with Sandy, and second the earlier suggestion that Dave's is a reputable shop. Go for it.
