I assume they compare to Marks the way Madeira steel string guitars compare to Guilds.

But -- as there's one near me, I thought I'd see if anyone is familiar with them.

Thanks!

I'd wait for a Mark also. Stay away from Gibson or Fender.

$400 is Mark III territory if you're patient. I've never played a Madeira nylon, but it's hard to imagine them being as good as the Mark series. My '74 Mark V is the best classical I've ever played, and I've played quite a few.

Plus one for holding out for Mark series. Also, I have played the GAD series nylon. Honestly, it was better than the Mark II that I owned. Either way, there are several reasonable priced Mark series out there. Good luck!

Gotta agree with Sandy and others, wait for a Mark, there's plenty of them in the northeast, just be patient, scour CL and Marketplace. Granted, like the price of everything else these days, it's not the same as a few years ago, but I'd be surprised if you can't find one for $400. Also looks like the guitar is swimming in that case.

Whew! For a while there I thought this was going to be my lowest-response-to-a-post ever!

I have a Mark II, which I like very much.

However, the proximity of this one (only a few minutes away) and my innate curiousity when it comes to Guild (or Guild tangential) models I've never tried before is getting the better of me.

Maybe I'll go check it out (I agree it's too expensive) and report back -- and then we'll all have an answer to my question!
