So, I belong to an exclusive club? How wonderful.....

I just switched yesterday from a Blackberry to an iPhone. Today, that's about how all my messages and texts look.... LIKE GARBAGE!!

I suppose I'll get better at this.... sheesh.

That's pretty fun, Toni. :D

Brain processes of the optical nerves are fascinating... And Q's example shows that even with characters only resembling the correct letters, you can read still the words.
Very cool, thanks for that Toni! (And Q :D )

I could read both of them. I now feel better about getting kicked out of Mensa for telling nerd jokes. After work I'm going shopping for a new sweater vest and clip on bow tie.

Then we could have MODERATED come and tear us to shreds about ..... something. It'll be fun!! C'mon everyone... there's gonna be a NEW THREAD!!

Moderated because original was a little too close to a personal attack IMO.

A brief article on the topic, on an amusing website I stumbled upon while researching something else. Unfortunately, I forgot what something else was. On the plus side I can locate all three pairs of reading glasses today. Work was cancelled due to lack of interest. I'd like to give a shout out to the person who invented coffee.

Have a safe and productive day, folks.

Veering to the side a little, I think our ability to have a higher cognitive ability has promoted the wonderful world of vanity plates. I've read most of the ones in this article, and quite honestly, I don't get some of them....I get the letters but not the contextual meaning. So much for reading numbers as letters!

Sight reading music is kind of the same analogy...

Some musicians see the same patterns over and over... so they won't even bother looking at the detailed notes within the pattern... they will just play that pattern...

Also, its how I try to understand Spanish when I am conversing with others... I take about 60-80% of the sentence and try to translate that into the thought trying to be conveyed.... Great if I can understand 100% of the sentence... but usually thats not the case...
