By the way, I love green beans however they are prepared (my dog loves them raw).
That's how I eat them, too!!! I always buy a bag of them and by the time I get around to cooking them, they're mostly gone. Crunchy and sweet!! Delicious!! (y)(y)

Duck eggs have lighter yolks, different consistency, supposed to be good for baking.

Not much difference in taste.

A perennial favorite in season here is garlic green beans, wok fry the two together until the beans are partially browned, amazing.

We have several kinds of green beans, green, yellow, and white/purple specked. Skinny green ones are my favorite, haricot vert.

My next door neighbor loves gardening. We share a garden. It's on my property, but he does all the work. We grow zucchini, all kinds of tomatoes, green beans, acorn squash, broccoli, raspberries, various peppers, basil, parsley, potatoes, yellow squash, etc.

The perfect arrangement!

It is a bee, a wild bee of some sort, gathering pollen and pollinating at the same time.

This is some food we grew, a successful mushroom crop from the cunning Mrs. GA, garlic, and a morning pan full of food, one of my specialties, breakfast scrambles/omelets, this one with duck eggs from a neighbor, we trade extra vegies for eggs.

I have not had much luck with tomatoes, but I'm starting earlier next year. They won't set fruit in high temps, and we get a lot of those here. Florida in summer, who would have thought it gets hot?
I don't know about where you are but in Southwest Florida, as in Lee county, you want your tomatoes to be ripe for picking right around December so plant accordingly. That should turn out about right. you may need to move it like maybe a month later, since you're further north, I don't know.

Corn!

P1110981.JPG

Froze five 1lb bags, 3 shucked ears per bag, and made corn potato chowder, was out of this world.

1 onion, lightly caramelized, big handful of spuds, cut in small chunks, 4 ears of corn, shucked, 1/2 gallon of milk, salt, pepper.

Got a lot of compliments on it.

Looks really good. Did you grow it? If so, what kind?

I want to make your chowder, sounds delicious! Do you cut the corn off or break the ears into pieces?

Yeah, we grew it, not sure the variety, it's not a bi-color. Cut the corn off the cob for chowder.

Making it again tonight, it's quick.

Great with grilled cheese sandwiches.

And Cod. And toasted flour thickener. Fish Chowder. :giggle:

Used to make it with rockfish caught on Stagnaro's fishing cruises out-a Santa Cruz.
Reminds me of the time somebody pulled up a 4 or 5 foot shark that had latched onto a ling cod that had latched onto the rockfish on the hook. o_O

A regular fish turducken. 🙃 I forget how they handled the shark, just remember they wouldn't bring it on board.

I’ve come close to that. Possibly a fish turduck?

On the Great Barrier Reef out of Townsville catching coral trout. All of a sudden one came up wearing a potato cod. Hoot.

Also that trip my friend caught a shark bigger than the boat. Needless to say it never saw the deck.

Congrats!
Florida gardening is a wonderful thing, but there was a lot to learn for this German immigrant who grew up in Buffalo 🤪
We bought our house 3 years ago and I'm happy to say that this barren lot has been transformed into a nice food forest and pollinator garden! Mostly my wife's hard work and expertise, but I do help and learn where I can.
On a sidenote, our corn got ransacked as well! Hopefully whoever chowed down on it, needed it, and at least enjoyed it. So it goes!
