If you were to pick a non-electric car that you would think was cool to make into one, what would it be?

This idea spawned off of the dream car thread. It's pretty miscellaneous, I think.

For me, I see one of this on a street I drive very frequently. It's up on jack stands and has been so a long time. The shape is sort of unique and was probably space-aged for it's time.

I think it has enough space front and rear to house the batteries and motors, and looks way cooler than most electric cars on the road.

Ferrari 308. One of my favorite looking cars of all time but they're dogs performance-wise.

Really, though, I'd probably still want an original just for the sound. Actually, I'd want a 328, but that's not what you asked. :)

It would be my two favorite cars.
1967 Austin-Healey 3000,
Ferrari 250 GT California.
I haven't a clue whether either is physically a candidate for conversion to an EV, but that wasn't JohnW63's question.

Nope. It wasn't. The "Big Healey" wouldn't have much space for a battery, but it would look good going fast off the line.

In the old days, these cars would have been called "Dino" and not "Ferrari". Enzo Ferrari in the back then often said "A Ferrari is a 12 cylinder car", and like cheaper Guilds were called "Madeira", the purist in me believes that Ferrari should have stayed that way.

Of course, that still doesn't stop these cars from being worth a boatload of money these days.

If it were a newer car I wouldn't mind our Bronco Sport being electric.

I love you guys' choices! Especially the '62 T-bird, John!

F30, I think the Bronco or a Jeep as an EV would be cool as well. I think the Jeep may already be. But I'll never buy another Jeep (sorry for the veer, that's a long story). :)

Oh, and RBSinTo, you gotta' be nutz on the Ferrari California... No way! :D :D

My personal choice would've been what Tesla already did with the original, Lotus-based roadster. The only problem I have with that car is that it doesn't have a manual transmission. Also, the one that's been put into space is probably not too driveable. :)

^ BOOOOOOO! Next you're gonna' suggest a Pontiac Aztek, right GG? :D :D

Actually, a PT Cruiser would really be a practical vehicle as an EV. And, though I hate to say it, that blue is good looking! :D

I LOVED my neighbor's Dino. Of all the cars in his Ferrari collection, that's the one I'd really want.

But, Sandy, I've never heard the 308 referred to that way. I think I understand what you're saying, but I'm not sure who would think of the 308 that way. For me, my personal favorite is the 360 Modena. Before the really edgy, modern styling of the 430, and just about the most beautiful Ferrari of the (almost) modern era.

The 308's predecessor, the 246 and 308 GT4, were still called Dinos, as was any Ferrari with less than 12 cylinders. A nice 246 GTS can fetch half a million dollars these days; pretty good for six cylinders!
