I placed an order from Amazon today, supposed to arrive Wednesday. I just looked at the status and it shows "shipped". Well that was fast. So I looked at the tracking info, "carrier picked up package" on "Monday August 7".

It's still Sunday at my house.

Typical B.S. from Amazon as well as other shippers (e.g. ebay sellers, online booksellers, etc.). They try to appear efficient, and instead just demonstrate stupidity, not to mention assuming that the customer buys such nonsense. Don't get me started .... oops, I already have. ;)

(Note that's the original '66 version, a bit raunchier than the later better-known take ;). At least, it was supposed to be 1966. There was a lot of funny stuff going on with time in the '60's. )

That's a free day. It's in the fine print under the "Customer Resistance" and then "Hold Amazon Harmless" buttons on their site, then select "Call back from live Chatbot to maintain your priority". Takes about a day.

Sometimes, I don't know how Amazon does it. I had a mission critical hard drive go down on one of the computers at the office, and ordered a replacement at 10:30AM. It was at my house less than five hours later.

I'm still not a fan, but I have to admire their logistics.

Sometimes the logistics REALLY surprise you.

Few years back we ordered about 5kg/10lbs package of tube amp x-formers from TME in Poland. I wrote the order on afternoon - chose the "standard" delivery @ 10€. Next day at about 13.00 the package was at my door.

I checked the tracking code and found, that the package had first gone from Poland to Berlin - then Stockholm/Sweden - further to Helsinki/Finnland - Tampere - and final delivery.

So many switchovers and final delivery in less than 24 hours - I'm still impressed. 🐾 ( even though that nef is not impressed by the cat )
