...you using with your Starfires? If you have pis'c I'd love to see those too.

I have a boat load of amps that I primarily use for their clean sound as I'm a pedalboard user(and abuser!) when I need dirt, overdrive ,fuzz, echo, delay, feedback. compression etc.I was brought up on the Fender Blackface/slverface reverb clean sound; so that's the type of sound that I gravitate towards, but I'm not limitted by it.

Here are some of my fav's for clean:

1968 Super Reverb(Blackface electroniccs)

What amps and pedals are you using? I'm actually using a Germino Lead 55LV as my practice amp right now with a Line 6 Verbzilla to give me my "Fender" clean reverb sound.

Tom

Cool amps!!! I've forever wanted to make a 2X10 combo out of a Bandmaster Reverb head, maybe this year I'll finally do it.

Walt,

Thanks. The guy that works on my amps recommended tha I upgrade the output transformer to a multi tap output transformer that lets me use a 2ohm, 4ohm or 8 ohm load. This lets me use various different combination of speakers and switch when whenever I want. It is also rated at 40 watts, which turns the Bandmaster into basically a Super Reverb.(if I sound like I know like what I'm talking about ; I don't , I'm just trying to repeat what I think he told me!).It gives it a lot more head room and tighter bottom end just like the Super Reverb.

I also had some on who is really good build me the cab and then bought some Jensen re-isues that sound just fabulous in this amp.

I hope you are able to get around to it because this has now become one of our best gigging amps. I used the empty BandMaster Reverb cab to put the Super Reverb amp in as a head only as it's a perfect fit.

Tom

You don't really need the '66 Vibrolux Reverb at all. You should send it to me! :D

Dr Tom, my own Super Reverb is a Bandmaster Reverb chassis in a repro Super cab with a bigger output transformer, so yes, I know! :D

AlohaJoe,

I bought this amp from a guy in Seattle for $800 a number of years ago. If you're ever in the area you're welcome to come over and try it out. I let all my band mates use my gear for practice and gigs.

Regards,

Tom

Dr. Tom:

Great amp stash! That's some cool stuff.

When that lovely SF VI was down at my shack, the top tone came from a tweed twin - a '57 reissue from Fender. Tricked out with all NOS everything, and so on. Plugged in through my usual minimal setup: tuner, TIM, Catalinbread Semaphore, Toadworks Redux delay, Hermida Reverb. There really are no words for that sound. (BTW, that same amp works the same wonders for my ES-335.)

Close runner up, very close, is an Allen Encore head, into a 1x15 and 2x12 cab. Through TIM and a Roland Space Echo RE-201. The dreamier side of Guild.

mad dog,

The picture of my pedal board is old. Where the Lovepedal is shown, has been replaced with a Tim. The Tim is probably my Favorite along with the Klon. They both seem to work well with both single coils amd Humbuckers . When it comes to original Fender sound ,you can't beat a tweed Twin!

GAD,

Great choice.

Every one has their own way of getting their sound and tone; I'm not one of those people who believe my way is the only way or the right way. One of the best players I know uses a Pod live directly to the board as his live rig and sounds fantasic; so if there was only one solution there'd be only one amp and a much more boring world. I love the digital world.

Here is what I use to play the vibes in "UnderMy Thumb " by the Stones; the Saxophone in Van Morison's "Wild Nights" and Organ in the Bands "The Shape I'm In". I connect to a Yamaha ES rack unit.

No pics handy, but my Starfire IV (late Westerly one, it was the area Fender rep's sample one which I bought in September 2001) goes through a pedal board with (in order) a Boss CS-3 compressor, Vox wha, Reverend Drivetrain overdrive, Boss CH-1 chorus (every time I step on it I think "Why'd you buy that?!"), and then an Ernie Ball Volume pedal- the tuner out of the volume pedal goes to a Boss TU-2 tuner. The signal then goes to either a Fender Blues Jr or a Peavey Delta Blues 210.

I really think that Vibrolux belongs in Central Illinois... :D

I played a gig a few years ago where I was able to borrow one of Fender's recent Custom Vibrolux Reverb amps, and thought it was perfect for me. 2 6L6's and a pair of 10's with just the right amount of break up. VERY sensitive to touch and volume hitting the pre-amp. I loved it! A bonus is that the reverb works on BOTH channels so I was able to set one channel for the Starfire and the other for my Strat and still have the reverb I wanted.

Doctor T,

A warm welcome from me.

That's about the best collection of the best amps I've ever seen. I don't see how anybody could go wrong with any of those.

Darryl Hattenhauer,

Thanks,

I 've probaly sold an equal number if not more; I can't play them all so It's great to hear my band mates and friends play some of them. The added benefit is that most of them are better players than I am and it's a joy to hear what the amp is "supposed" to sound like.

Regards,

Tom
