D-52/DV-52

I got a reply from Hans Moust in an email, so I thought it would be a good idea to post the information here for everyone to read. He told me that the 1993 D-52 I'm getting is probably a mis-labled DV-52, because the D-52 made earlier in the 1980's is a different guitar. Hans said he will go into more detail about it in his forthcoming book. I have seen a 1993 DV-52 which also has a herringbone rosette, but my D-52 has the old-style Epiphone-like heel and heel-cap where it tapers down to about 2/3 the width of the neck, while the DV-52 has the typical flatter heel and heel-cap that is the full width of the neck. Apparently they changed the rosette on the DV-52 to abalone in 1994: I prefer the herringbone and old-style heel, so I'm glad I got the 1993 D-52/DV-52.

I'm sure many of you are looking forward to Hans Moust "Guild Guitar Book II". I have read the Guild Guitar Book repeatedly, and I refer to it constantly. I am impressed with the detail, layout, and over-all fine job Hans did with that book. I have many guitar books, almost every one in fact, but the Guild Guitar Book continues to be my favorite. I'm sure Hans has turned many people into Guild collectors because of his excellent book about those excellent guitars!

I recently picked up a DV 62 for 800. Really nice guitar,

I can not find any info on this guitar. Does anyone know what the difference between the DV 52, DV62 & DV 72
Did you have a .357 magnum in your hand when you got that DV-62 for $800.00??

Nope, no undue coersion (sp) on the DV62 deal. Bought it from a shop in Tacoma.

Just one of those things where money met opportunity. The dealer had just made a big time investment in a 20K deal on a Fender Tele or Strat.
His rent or payroll was due maybe? He made money but not much. He even paid the 8% sales tax.

Wish I had known the original owner, he took a real waxing.

I knew little about Guilds at the time, enough to know it wasn't in D55 class, but a nice Rosewood dread (a Guild mind you) for 800 seemed a fair deal.
