Haven't met a Guild D40 I didn't like. I have a D40c, built in the early 80's and BG-Jubilee from 2012.

If everything goes well then I might pick up a furch from him , I will say the guild d20 is also interesting

Having bought a D-40 just before Christmas, I followed it up with a D-20 as I've always loved all-mahogany acoustics and I can confirm that it is just as good as the D-40 but different enough to justify having both (although I suppose I would say that!). They are each eminently playable and rewarding in their own way.

I looked at Furch a few years ago and liked the sound very much but couldn't stand the neck profile, which I think was a common one used across all their guitars. I knew that if I'd bought it, within six months I'd have sold it because it wouldn't have made me want to pick it up and play it. So far as I'm aware, they haven't altered the specs since then. It may not be an issue for you but if you particularly like the feel of the Guild necks like I do then it may be a factor to consider.

On the Furch? It was a few years ago that I played it but I have a memory of it being shallow; I think they're officially described as having a 'v' to them, which would definitely not be to my liking, either...I hate 'v' necks and I hate flat, shallow necks! I'm a glutton for guitars but the wrong neck ends it for me...

Yeah I’m not V neck fan either

So I was looking at buying either Martin d28/35 or a guild d50 or 55 but I couldn’t any beside a d55 that I wasn’t impressed

And I ended stumbling over a video of a d40 and every video was surprisingly good

I actually found a demo of this exact d40 and I was sold !

Yay!

Hey, Jared, congrats!

I realize the guitar is from 2017, but did you buy it new (as in NOS)? Note, the pickguard film is still on there! That's one beautiful, silky top!

I was in aware of that till I bought it but I’m ok with the price I paid for it .

I figured it wasn’t brand new since the model has been discontinued and it plays flawlessly.
It’s absolutely amazing and it’s so comfortable

Nice one! They're great, aren't they? I was just recording with mine this afternoon and kept getting distracted by its playability. It's always a good sign when you really don't want to put the guitar down!
