I was just watching a video with Steve Vai talking about his 263 guitar collection(mainly Ibanez) and I saw this in the background. Is that a black thin body Guild acoustic electric with a maple neck? Maybe a Burnside model? Cant see the name but that headstock shape looks familiar.
Yes, that's a Guild FS-46CE-6 from the year 1984. It's not really an acoustic electric, but more like a solid body guitar with an under-saddle pickup system.
Used to have one...6 string cousin to my 12 string...really nice maple fast electric type neck...short scale...24 fret...for plugged in play only...had the old 3-volt TASS system.
If you find one, you'll really want to change the electronics...be close to 40 years old now...I just used a mag sound hole PUP in the 'not really a sound hole'
ps: seem to recall having seen a pic of Brian Setzer playing one...besides his Bluesbird pics.
I know they made him an electric solid body back when he was shopping around for an endorsement deal and for a company to make him the ideal guitar for him. I don’t know if there’s a pic of it floating around but I think it was a 27 fret.
I love Hans' comments in the old thread about them clearly not having any guitar designers. LOL. +1. That made me laugh out loud! Not much different than George Harrison's childhood drawings! walrus
:50 seconds into this video on Reverb, Steve Vai shows a custom 30-fret Guild. Only a couple of seconds. Don't know if this was posted before... https://reverb.com/news/video-inside-steve-vais-wild-guitar-collection
