Showing that a $500 Guild sounds as good as a $2,500 Martin is very unfair to the Martin brand. :lol:

I really couldn't hear any differences . The price of the Martin though, bid difference. I wish he had mentioned the playability though.

I thought the Guild sounded a bit "bigger";more bottom, I suppose. Certainly worth paying $1500 less for!

Kind of hard to properly compare in the format, though.

That could be kinda subjective depending on your preference of neck profile. If that D4's anything like my D25, it's got what I think they called the "flattened oval" profile, which feels very slim. Fender actually defined several different neck profiles in their '01 "Frontline' catalog, but I always forget what the specific names were.
THe D40's definitely got more of a "D" profile. It toook me a long time to realize that's why it felt so different from the '25, but I'm used to it now.
