That's a really fine guitar. I wanted an M-20 pretty bad and looked for a while but couldn't come up with one non-ebay. I got this '50 O-15 locally for about the same price as I see internet M-20s going for and I've been very happy with its tone and playability, though I sometimes think I might have been happier with a OO-17 because they are just a bit bigger (they're the same size as M-20s, I believe). I'm probably just insecure because I'm 6'4, weigh close to 230, and don't want to look like I'm playing a toy.
I'm thinking I might like the look of the headstocks and pickguards on the M-20s better after all though. But the mahogany is a little more robust on the older Martins. Maybe someday I'll have to own an M-20 too.
ps, How much money did Martin really save by putting in so few dot inlays? I guess every penny counts when producing a $25 guitar. Anyway, congratulations Joan!
Hi Joan
Very nice little guitar.
Those small body parlor guitars have surprising projection.
Its getting harder all the time to find nice stuff of that vintage.
65 was a great year for guitars and other stuff.
Here are a couple pictures of my 65 F-100
Its no Guild and not as small as yours but also getting hard to find a decent one.
With a 351 Windsor and glass pack mufflers, it has pretty decent projection too.
Hi Chaz
LOL! I use to be a Masshole. I grew up in Western Mass near West Springfield and Lake Garfield in the Berkshires. My Dad built a cabin on Lake Garfield that was our summer home. Really miss those New England woods especially come fall.
