Walked into a local shop today and noticed a JF-55 hanging on the wall. Good shape, not mint but no structural issues. I did not write down the serial number but the shop owner said 1991. A earlier owner installed a fishman undersaddle, passive pickup. Jack where the stap button used to be but then re-installed the strap button a few inches above :?:  Couple of minor dings and scratches. Old repair on the neck binding. Neck looks good as do the frets.

Wonderful tone, great projection. Was surprised how heavy it is.

Shop is asking $1,200 but indicated there is "room". What say you???

Why in hell would anyone move the strap button hole... :? :? Now might be a good time to acquire it....If there are no other issues, like hamster droppings under the truss rod cover...Steffan

That price is good. You may find a D-55 in better shape for that amount but you won't find many D-55's for less than that.

I look to see the price of used Guilds on the rise.
In fact, I think it is already happening.

Used Guilds are gaining in popularity.

My thoughts exactly. The end pin jack does double duty so why drill a hole for no good reason :?:  :?:

I'll likely go back next week, check out the electronics and the case. If it all looks good and I can get him to get south of a grand I may go for it.

At least it'll be easy to identify should it ever 'go missing'. I'd look into getting that filled eventually. they can do a match pretty well..Check for hampster droppings   Should be a great guitar though if no repairs needed....Steffan
