Went to Austin last Thursday to see Joe Pug’s gig at Threadgill’s South Store Beer Garden. First time Joe has played in Austin in over a year. It was a great show and he performed most of his new songs that are on his soon-to-be-released new album (early 2015).
The pictures aren’t the best (didn’t want to use a flash as to not to distract from Joe). Over 200 folks were there…not bad for a Thursday night. Ooops, I forgot. Thursday IS the new Friday! Quite a nice mix of college students, a few families, and more ‘mature’ attendees like me!
The weather was a typical summer night here, about 79 degrees, 50-ish % humidity, nice breeze, and no mosquitoes. Now THAT is one nice side effect of the drought! Didn’t need to use the OFF I had brought along!
Joe, predominantly, played his NH D40 and Westerly D25. Even though the D25 had just received a major bump from United on a recent flight (duct tape was Joe’s solution to putting it back together. UGH!), it still sounded amazing. Both Guild dreads were awesome.
Talked with Joe a bit after the show! It was a fun evening, and I’m so glad I made the journey to see him! He never disappoints!
