Just bought a pristine 1977 D-50 off eBay for $1400 including shipping. Hope to have it in a week or so and will report when it arrives.

I owned a '75 D-50 for a number of years and foolishly let it go for reasons still unknown to me. Hopefully, this '77 will fill that void!

Congrats 6L6! I was watching that one on the 'Bay, just out of interest. I bought a '76 D-50 here in town last fall, and am playing it a lot these days. Hope this is the one for you!

When she gets in, could you use a mirror to take a look at her bracing for me. The bracing/tone bars on my '76 appears to be shaved:

The specs I have seen for early D-50s don't mention shaved bracing, so I am wondering if it is original, or done afterwards. If yours looks the same, I'll assume that mine came from the factory like that.

Dave,

I'll check out the braces when she arrives and will let you know.

My only worry is that it's coming to CA from Minnesota and will no doubt be transiting some temperature extremes. Hoping it doesn't suffer the same fate as the JF-65 did for another member...

Good score. You'll be happy.

I picked up an '89 21 years ago and I don't know how to explain the connection we have. Great guitar, up and down and across the country we traveled together.
Never had a better sounding guitar!

yes, as someone who lives in Minnesota, i can tell you its... um, cold.

i'm in the process of importing a guitar myself, so i'm worried about the same thing.

best of luck to us both... %%-
