Yes. Reachable is a word and it is easily understood in the context. Maybe "affordable" is a more exact word but reachable is OK.

Before the embargo against American made instruments was lifted in the UK in the '60s (?), musicians didn't have a lot of options. That's why you see so many Hofners, Framuses, Hagstroms and a plethora of others in the hands of musicians from that era.

Both Keith Richards and Bill Wyman played Framuses also.

Whatever their limitations, they came off pretty credibly on record.

In 1963, the Beatles managed to snag a pair of Gibson J160Es. Likewise George got a pair of Gretsch 6122 Country Gents and a Tennessean.

Beatles’65 is the first album I ever bought (only had 45s up to that point), and my 14 year old pea brain wanted to hear it over & over again. Dropped the needle too hard on Honey Don’t, creating a skip. Lost a verse in there but still played it over & over again, to the point that years later when I finally replaced the album, it seemed like a whole new song without that skip!

I think Mr Martin was an excellent musician and had a profound influence on the Beatles. He found fertile ground for his production ideas with them.
They did many very complex orchestral numbers also, but my favorites are the dead simple ones where the dynamics are so well controlled.
Rubber Soul, Revolver.
Of course I think Beatles 65 is one of their all-time best.
I like simple tight arrangements.
Buck Owens, The Band, you get the drift.

I have a Gretsch Duo-Jet identical to George Harrison's.
The story is that he bought his in Liverpool from an American sailor who used to bring them over and sell them as a sideline, for about 70 or 75 pounds, which was about all the money he had at the time. It was his first really good guitar, and he can be seen playing it at the Cavern Club. He played it for the recordings of Please Please Me, I Saw Her Standing There, and Twist and Shout.

"Good" or not, the sound of that particular guitar is unforgettable! Hey You've Got To Hide Your Love Away is a particular favorite of mine. I have a Framus 6 string jumbo that sounds pretty boxy like an LG0 or something in the room, but which I've always found sits in a recorded mix very well. Sometimes a big sound isn't what you want.

Johnreardon, where I live in southern France, I haven't seen any of the Guild electrics apart from the S 300D yet, I believe...
We get acoustics built in Asia, but even the U.S. Standard acoustics are pretty rare (we'd see one every now and then). Never seen two of them at the same time I think, except for when I bought mine (they had a F-30 and a D-50 together, and people obviously didn't know much about them - got a great price for this reason I bet -). I wish I could play a Starfire II or III, but even the Newark series don't show up.
