I was shocked to see LMI’s FB posting that they will be closing this fall due to the owners retiring. For those who don’t know, they are, with StewMac, one of the big lutherie supply resources. Based in Cali, they were a good counterpoint to SM, beating some of their offerings sometimes.

Surprised they didn’t sell to a new owner.

That is sad. They have good deals on guitar kits. Might have to try one before it's too late.

They were my goto for a few things over StewMac (even though I get free shipping via StewMax and quick delivery.)

I'd just got a shipment from them for the Octo build. They always shipped their fretwire coiled up, so I never needed an expensive fretwire radiuser. And carried Jescar's EVO gold wire well before SM came out with their similar (but not quite as good) gold wire.

Great. 😕

I have some wood suppliers locally, but not a comprehensive dealer like they are.

That is surprising they didn’t sell the business. I thought they were pretty widely used and well respected.

They were and are. They also had shop services. I usually would have them slot my fretboards. $9 and they could do any scale length. StewMac is pretty much limited to 24.75” and 25.5” (although they have an online calculator to help you do it yourself.)
