I have a chance to buy a 70th anniv. model, that has me super excited, but I want more info from you guys. I would be getting a great price on it, as a 2nd owner, used, still basically mint. I have never got to even play an Oxnard D55, despite all the guilds that come through my home, as a collector/seller. I have a 97 D55 to compare it to at home, but the Adi top and Madi RW, will 4 sure sound different. Hoping some members here will give me their input on theirs, or one they got to play. The madi RW is fairly straight grained, with not a lot of BRW looking, type figuring. Is that a plus, or a minus, to you guys, or on its value. Thanks!!

I haven't done my NGD post yet, but I'll chime in. I played two 70th Anniversary D55s at Chicago Music Exchange in February. One was a very nice rosewood dread, but nothing to warrant the exceptional price. The other was one of those rare instruments where the notes leap from the soundboard and sound hole like living things. It was the most exciting Guild I've ever played. Guess which one came home with me?

I haven't played many regular D55s, from any era, so I can't offer a comparison. I can say thatI like it a bit better than the 50th Anniversary D55, but some of that is due to subtle differences in the neck.
