Hello tapnets,

Welcome! Your Guild Starfire IV with serial # AG001718 was manufactured during the year 2001.

Hello Hans,

I have done and am continuing to do research on my new instrument. She is a beauty, spent the last ten years in her case. I know that HB1's will not fit without modification. I have not read very many kind things about the Fender pickups the one thing I do have going for me is that the guitar was built in R.I. Do you or anyone out there recommend alternative pickups for this otherwise beautiful guitar.

Thanks

If you like the look, get the Fenders rewound.

If you don't care about the look, then the sky's the limit.

WCRs or Seth Lovers are what I would use.

I have restrung this guitar and I am not seeing the sound/tone problems that the purists say they see. If I am missing something help me understand, I own over 14 guitars etc. And this ax sounds great.....

Don't go looking for problems if you don't have any! Enjoy it don't look back. I dislike the sound while I'm playing mine, but I'm impressed with the sound every time I see a recording of me playing.
