I kid Carlos of course (as you know)... but the one thing I will tell you about learning to play violin first, is it makes playing guitar feel ridiculously easy! :kiwi-fruit:
Wish it woulda worked that way for me...yep,
my first instrument was a violin too (well, viola, actually)...courtesy of the local elementary school. Complete with the stereotypical martinet of a music teacher who berated me for being late to class one day after completing a mandatory test in
another class which I normally would have been released from early, for the music class. My mother, hearing of this, immediately yanked me out of the music class.
I still suffer the occcasional anxiety attack from that childhood trauma.
Adding insult to injury,
I never really wanted to play violin in the first place,
I wanted to learn trumpet so I could play "Casino Royale" and all the cool Tijuana Brass/Herb Alpert stuff, but he gave my buddy the trumpet because he had better lips. Even though
I had better lungs. Then he even downsized me to viola because I had small hands.
Anyway when I got to guitar in junior high it was pretty much back to square one....but that guy was a revelation: The entire first lesson was dedicated to the ergonomics of the instrument.
Well, on second thought, maybe the guitar
was whole lot easier after violin, all things considered...
