I did not yet plug it in as I was debating whether or not to even open it just yet. It got delivered at around 6pm, sat in my garage for about one hour, and when I opened the box the case on the outside was cool to the touch, so I couldn't resist taking a peek. Here are a few preliminary pics.

Let me be the second to say congratulations!

It really warms my cockles to see those who are able to buy the new Guild Starfire. I think it shows true support of the future- of the history -of Guild guitars.

And it's a sweeeeet axe!

I had to get rid of two very sweet Guilds to get it ('84 X-500 and '91 Starfire 4)--some silly promise I made that I would spend no new money on guitars (what was I thinking?)--but with what I still have (and I just traded my '00 D-40 for a '99 JF-3012) I am just fine with the deal. Can't wait for it to settle in so I can make a few sound clips and get them out here.

Upon closer inspection I made an interesting observation...there is no serial number on the back of the headstock. Is that typical with limited edition guitars, or more specifically, with the Guild GSR guitars?

Also, it is much lighter than the '91 Starfire 4 that went toward its purchase.

New Hartford isn't stamping serial numbers in the back of the headstock, unfortunately.

I'd love to see the return of that and the 'made in usa' stamp.

No stamped serial numbers on Guilds since Tacoma.

Congratulations, guildman! Wow! Did it come with the strap? I thought that strap was a one-off run (we had a few raffled off at LMG).

Hey, has default gotten his yet? I can't believe there are two people on our board that have these. That is wicked cool.

As far as I know they each come with a Guild leather strap.

Default is still awaiting his, but should have it shortly. I believe there are at least three LTG'ers that have one as powerwagonjohn has one as well.

While it's not consistent with the vintage starfire look I like it, and I like the vintage SF as well. It appears very well made, and my initial impression after playing it is that the sound is vintage to me. I love the pickups!

That's great! Way to show our support for NH-made Guilds. I had a NH D40 for a while, but it wasn't for me. I'll own another one of these days.

Play that beauty in good health GM63!
