Nice stands.

Is that a Harmony Monterey in the lower left?

I had one of those as my first guitar when I was about 12 or so.

The stands/shelves look great! That brings me to a guestion about humidity. Much of what I read advises against leaving guitars out of their cases so you can better control humidity. I always have 1-3 guitars out on stands depending on what project I'm doing (I'm working on a new CD now so have 3 out that I use daily). Down here it's very humid but I keep a dehumidifier going in the summer, programmed to around 45-50%. I haven't noticed any problems...what's the humidity situation in the room where you keep your guitars?

The most important thing is to keep them humidified in winter, while the heat is operating in the house......again, as you said, around 50%.

Was it made out of stone?

Graham - that was a cruel and unjust comment - Carl isn't that old :!: However, I thought they were called lutes when he was a boy

Thanks again everyone for the kind words. I live in south texas where the humidity stays around 75 and alittle higher. I have always left the acoustics out, have never had a problem.

Yep the old archtop Harmony Monterey, was one of my first guitars. Still plays and sounds good. Guess that makes me ols as dirt also......LOL

Have a great weekend everyone

Good Eye Pike, Thats an old D20SN, did,nt make many. It was more of a prototype from what Washburn told me. Has nice Maple back and sides and spruce top. I added the pickguards. Wanted that old time country player look.

Take it easy and keep on picking

One more question about the humidity thing... as you live in south Texas, do you have air conditioning? I've been told that even down here in Florida, it's a good idea to humidify if the giutars are stored in an air conditioned home. I kind of rotate mine into cases (with the soap-dish and foam thingies) for a while. Never had trouble, frankly, but want to avoid any.

Howdy dapmdave, I check the humidity from time to time and so far its never been below 58% even with the A/C running. Maybe i,ve just been lucky.
