After playing my 1966 Guild Starfire III with Bigsby since I bought it brand new, I finally got me a new one; a 2014 Guild Starfire V with Bigsby.

My old one was just begging to be retired but I didn't give it a second thought about who would replace her.

Here's a photo of the old girl with me (and a head of hair :) back in January 27, 1967.

And here's a video of me playing my new one last week, Saturday August 15, 2015.

The only change made to my new Guild is a "Vibramate String Spoiler" installation, to help me expedite any fast and easy string-changing if necessary.

Love, love, love it!

Nice backline in that 1967 photo! Any idea which Vox model that is on the right?

Sounds like the SF-V is working out pretty well. :)

It's The Vox Buckingham.
It looked great at the time (1966-67), but sadly it was the solid state version of the Buckingham imported by Thomas Organ from Vox in the UK, not the tube version.
But years later I eventually got me an all tube VOX AC30.
But nowadays, all I use is a Fender 68 Custom Deluxe Reverb amplifier.
It complements my Guild Starfire V perfectly, although... my Guild sounds pretty damn good in almost anything I plug it into.

Very nice indeed! And that Vibramate Spoiler is an amazing idea! My Gretsch will have one very soon.

Aw Gary, don't come down on the Buckingham (that's what I suspected it was, but in Sweden?), the amps of its ilk are now the sound
of Tom Petty...

My son has one, gifted to him by a family friend just before he passed. Nice amp, though fragile, and very nearly not repairable when she finally blows.
It was Vox's USA licensee trying to make a solid-state AC-30. How did it get to Sweden???

Bill Ashton, I didn't come down on the Buckingham,
I just implied that I didn't care for that transistor sound it had, but I'm sure many, many people did/do.
It's just my personal opinion, that's all.
Please, no offence intended.

Gary, no offense was taken and I apologize if my posting seemed that strong.

I am sure that it was a let-down when you were expecting the "AC30" sound and got Thomas Organ instead! I did not know they went international, and thought that the Thomas/Voxes were in the US only...that you guys were the lucky ones with the tube amps!

To get back on track, a local band in my junior high school days "The Henchmen" also had a Guild/Vox line-up...the rhythm-guitar player had a Starfire III and a Thomas/Vox Berkley II!

If this is of any interest to anyone, here’s another video of my new 2014 Guild Starfire V, trying to do an old Who song at that same gig as my other video that I posted from about two weeks ago, Saturday August 15, 2015.
