I don't actually have it yet, but payment has been made, and I should have it in my hands within the next week or so. It looks to be in very good condition aside from a few very minor nicks on the top, but time will tell. More pics will follow once it arrives.

Wow, that's gorgeous Guildman! I'd love to have a Stuart some time, but I'd want one made in New York. Good luck with that!

A Stuart made in NY would be a very nice get, I just don't know if my budget sees it the same way.

Guildman:

You scored! Same guitar at my house now, only 2001?, one of the last Westerly build X-500s. Mine looks the same, have to take some pics.

Everyone who touches it is instantly seduced. The easiest playing big electric I've ever tried, with the sweetest acoustic sound. Elegant instrument. You are in for a treat!

Waiting for this box to arrive is difficult for sure. I have always had a thing for the full hollow-bodies, particularly Guilds. Now all I need is the talent to make it sound as good as it looks. I study with a jazz guitarist who plays an X-175 (basically the same as an X-500 as far as I know), and that is one of the sweetest sounding guitars I have ever heard!

Did anyone notice? At least 4 X-500 guitars on ebay right now, various vintages.

My recently purchased X-500 has finally arrived all the way from San Antonio...was kind of expecting 18" or 19" being from Texas, but it is in fact 17". Upon opening the case for the first time she was better looking than I had expected, but then upon closer inspection there appear to be at least a few issues that I was not previously made aware of (most not a big deal, but full disclosure is nice).

1. The binding along the treble side by the headstock is quite loose and in need of repair (see picture). I specifically asked about all of the binding and was told there were no issues. Easy to fix.
2. From what I can tell the finish around 5/6 of the tuning pegs is bubbling and peeling (see picture). Again, when asked if there were any issues with the finish the seller (consignment sale) said there were absolutely none, and that aside from a few small nicks in the top it is pristine.
3. The tone knob for the bridge pickup does not work. "Are all the electronics working normally?" To that I was told "yes!". Should be easy to fix, depending on why it isn't working.
4. The pickup ring for the bridge pickup is cracked all the way through. Any ideas where I can get a replacement ring to match for a 1984 X-500?

As for the action, it does appear to play reasonably well, but I have questions about the neck angle and I am not qualified to assess that.

These are the items I was able, with my relatively untrained eye, to come up with right off the bat. I will be having it fully inspected this coming weekend to make sure there are no other issues that I am unable to see. Meanwhile, here are some pictures...

Beautiful! The color is stunning, and yes, full disclosure would be nice. In fact, it sounds like 'liar' might be a better description of the seller. Fortunately, the issues you've spotted so far should be readily fixable and worth doing. Congratulations, it looks like a keeper for sure!

Hi, :D
I had similar issues recently with 2 guitars - a 2001 Guild Benedetto AA- looked beautiful and there were "no issues" when I asked the seller. Various things became apparent on closer inspection. Got my cash back. The second was a guitar I bought from a well known luthier in the Netherlands. One of his own creations which was 'ready made'. Same story. Got my cash back. Lost return postage cost both times.
