Hi All,
Well, I think this is the end of the GAS attack (for the time being anyway), but this guitar just surfaced on NY's Craigslist last night and I couldn't resist. I had some money left in the GAS fund after coming in well under budget with the D25-12, and I've been wanting a parlor size guitar for a while now. Just didn't find the right one. This particular guitar was bought in the early '90s by a woman in Greenwich Village who bought it and then never played it! Luckily, she had the sense to de-tension the strings while it sat in the case for the last eighteen years or so. I went in to see it this morning and literally found a museum piece.
As you can see in this picture, there is not a mark on the face of the guitar (or anywhere else that I can see). It was pretty dirty though, and required a good cleaning.
Both the upper and lower bouts are absolutely like new.
The back, too. What you see there are reflections from the lawn.
Here's where my question for Hans comes in. The serial number is very odd,
and doesn't show up in any of the Guild serial number databases that I can find. The woman I bought it from says it's from the early '90s, which I believe, but all the F20s that were manufactured at that time had serial numbers starting with "FA", and also the ones made in the '80s. I'd like to know a little bit more of the history of this instrument, as I am really enjoying it already. It has a huge voice for such a little axe. It even came with the impossible-to-find case!
