Guild and Höfner guitars with factory-original DeArmond 2000 pickups just look VERY cool, isn't it?

DeArmonds improve the esthetics of just about anything in my opinion

And if those goddam DeArmond SF-III (always forget if it's the Custom or the Special) didn't weigh like a Les Paul I would have kept them

I just watched a terrible movie on DVD last night, with Anthony Newley as a 50's rocker type drafted into the British army (clearly a riff on Elvis), but he was playing (holding) a big maple Hofner Senator (I think two single coil p'ups). At one point in a fight scene he hits a guy
with the guitar, I nearly s#*t, but I suppose that was just a prop...back then!

Beautiful guitars!
Bill, your post reminded of that Tarantino film about a bounty hunter during wild west days in which a vintage 1860's Martin was destroyed by mistake in a scene where it was played, but then the action was supposed to have stopped, or, maybe it was stopped, to switch the Martin out for a look-a-like, but the switch never happened and the Martin was broken beyond repair, and there wasn't any insurance on it.

Shit happens.. I forget who it was (John Entwistle perhaps) that mistakenly launched the wrong guitar up in the air at the end of a show, only to watch it disintegrate upon hitting the ground

Yes - and they sound great and unique. It's a damn shame nobody seems to building an exact DeArmond 2000 pickup replica - though I haven't really had time with the Duncan custom shop ones.

That was the incident I was referring to in my reply to Bill:)
Not a nice thing to see, but at least it wasn't a nineteenth century Martin!!
Jennifer Jason Leigh's reaction in that scene was 100% genuine, no acting required!

In the last photo of Bert Weedon, there is a Burns Orbit 3 amp in the bottom right corner. Back when I first got my S-300, I partnered it with one of these amps, which I was loaned by a cousin. Interesting transistor amp, with some great clean tones:cool:
